Sylvia-Rose Aycock
Honor Chorus Clinician
Sylvia Rose Aycock is a Brazilian-American music educator devoted to creating beauty in the world with her colleagues and student collaborators. She currently serves as the Artistic & Executive Director of the Girl Choir of South Florida, the very organization that ignited her passion for choral singing as a student. Under her leadership, the Girl Choir has performed with the New World Symphony, Master Chorale of South Florida, with the alt indie rock band KIDS, and on WLRN’s Folk & Acoustic Music radio program. Previously, Sylvia led middle and high school music programs in Orlando and Boca Raton, FL, and started a choir at the PACE Center for Girls in Tallahassee, FL. She earned her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Florida State University and is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Choral Conducting at Michigan State University. Sylvia continues to sing professionally at All Saints Episcopal Church and as a member of the Festival Singers of Florida.
Holly Mullenix
Honor Orff Ensemble
Holly Mullenix discovered her passion for education in the music classroom over 30 years ago. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education and a Master of Science in Music Technology and is certified in TI:ME (Technology in Music Education) and Orff-Schulwerk. Ms. Mullenix has taught across a wide range of environments, from PreK through graduate levels. Her achievements include receiving multiple Teacher of the Year and Teaching Excellence awards. Notably, she was honored with the prestigious Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation National Award at Carnegie Hall. Currently, Ms. Mullenix teaches at the Sandy Lane Conservatory for the Arts in Pinellas County. She also serves as the FMEA All-State Orff Ensemble Co-Coordinator, presents workshops for AOSA chapters, and is the Past-President of the Greater Tampa Bay Area Orff Chapter. Holly Mullenix is dedicated to not only teaching music but also inspiring students to embrace their unique creativity and authenticity.
Anita Travaglino
Modern Band Honors
Anita Travaglino is probably best known for her passion for Music Education. She has spent 27 years as an elementary music specialist in Hillsborough County where she currently teaches at Claywell Elementary in Tampa. Her music performing groups have included Choruses, Handbell Choirs, Percussion Ensembles, and of course, Modern Bands which have been featured in numerous performances throughout the Tampa Bay Area. A graduate of Ball State University, Anita has continued to stay involved as a leader in the field throughout her county and state. In her quest to keep current and relevant in her teaching, getting trained by Music Will (formerly Little Kids Rock) was one of the most impactful decisions to keep her students thriving. Some of her greatest professional accomplishments include serving as co-chair for the prestigious Young Songwriters Symposium in Hillsborough County and being named the 2017 Florida Elementary Music Educator of the Year. She is so grateful for all of her talented and inspiring colleagues, her amazing husband, Seth, and their three children for supporting her.
