Virginia Dickert
Virginia Dickert, Jacksonville, FL holds a BME and MAT both from Jacksonville University. She is certified in Orff-Schulwerk, World Music Drumming and Kodaly. Virginia taught for 42 years in both the private and public school systems of Jacksonville and conducted choirs in local churches before retiring in 2020. She continues to work with the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus as one of their conductors. In 2020, she conducted the JCC’s First Coast Honors Choir Festival and has conducted All-County Honor Choirs for Camden County, Georgia and Alachua County, Florida. In 2013 her “Drumline Buddies” project, which helped Title I schools was named FMEA Project of the Year. In 2018, the University of North Florida chose Virginia to receive the Gladys Prior Award for Career Teaching Excellence. This award is given to teachers who have proven over the years to give tremendous inspiration to their students. In 2020, Virginia was honored to be selected as the FMEA Elementary Music Educator of the Year. She is happy and excited to be leading the FEMEA North Regional Honor Chorus!
Rachel Cecil
Rachel Cecil is in her 18th year of teaching elementary music PreK-5th and is currently the Music Specialist for Yulee Primary in Nassau, Florida. In addition to teaching general music she has an after-school Orff ensemble called the Hornets In Harmony. She has previously taught chorus, recorder ensemble and voice lessons. Cecil holds Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Music Education, and has completed Level II Orff Certification. She is the past president of the North Florida Orff Chapter and current Course Director for the North Florida Orff Certification Program. Ms. Cecil is a member of the American Orff Schulwerk Association and serves on the Digital Mentorship Committee. Ms. Cecil has presented workshops at her local chapter and for Duval County Public Schools.
